Summary
You can tell that Ashely is either acting strange because she is on drugs or she is desperate for her mother and she is just doing anything, good or bad. In the book she then talks about the fight she had with her mother the day her mother disappeared. And basically it's really the mother telling Ashely she did a big mistake and that both of their lives are going to change. Ashely being her usual self told her mom to hurry up and stop talking because she was tire and wanted to go to bed. Next thing you know they are outside yelling at each other and Ashely goes off to bed after a few minutes not caring that her mother is crying. I believe that all of this is Ashely's fault if Ashely listened to her mom before she disappeared then maybe her mother would not disappear in the first place. Because they would both come up with a solution to the problem. Ashely keeps saying that this is all her mothers fault and how unfair her mother is. But think about it her mother gave her everything she wanted and let her do what ever she wanted to do. If Ashely just cared a little more about her mother there is a possibility that the problem of her mother disappearing could of have been prevented. Now this is a chance for Ashely to put herself in her mothers shoes and see how it is to deal with a big house and keeping up with the bills. Plus another twist that happened is there is a possibility that the bank is gonna take the house away if she does not start paying things. So now Ashely has to find a place to live and get a job. Cause Ashely has no money besides a few bucks on her. Although I have to give Ashely some props for meeting up with one of her mothers workers to talk business. Although something is fishy about him. Last but not least Ashely decides to sell some things so she can have money in case something happens. Which is a good idea.
Quote
"When everyone finally went home,Stella and I were alone in the half-empty house. That was when it all sunk in. With everyone gone, I could not keep busy anymore and pretend that everything was normal. I felt Disoriented as I walked through the rooms, remembering happier times." (Bowsher 96)
Reaction
Again in this quote above you can see the feelings she is feeling which is basically depression. Even though I feel bad for her at the same time I think she deserves it. Plus life is not fair. Everything can not go they way we want it to go. Remembering the good times as Ashely was looking at the empty house remeinds me of when I had to move from house to house when I was younger. I would walk around the inside of the house and memories would reply in my head.
does the narrator describe the memories as she wanders through each room?
