Water for Elephants by: Sara Gruen 1-65

Summary
This book is about a boy named Jacob who is in college and while he is in one of his classes he gets called out of the room. The reason why is because his parents have been in an accident. So he is left with nothing. He doesn't even have a home to go to because his family could not keep up with the mortgage bills so now the bank owns the house and everything else in it. So Jacob decides to hop on a train he didn't even finish taking his final exams nothing he just completely walked out of his college life. It just happens to be that the train he hopes on is a circus train. It's called Benzini Bros Most Spectacular Show on Earth. So he just ends up working for them. He has nothing else to do and he has no house to go to or some where else to live. In the beginining of the book it's an old man talking and later on you realize that the old man is Jacob. So the book has Dual Narrative voice.
Qoute
" I reach for the iron grab bar and fling myself upwar. My left foot and elbow hit first, and thenmy chin, which smashes onto the metal edging....... The noise is deafening , and my jawbone bangs rhythmically on the iron edging." (Gruen 25)
Reaction
When I read the first page I was laughing because the old man is funny. But then when the next chapter talkes about another person I start to make the connection that this is Jacob and that my book has dual narrative voice. When I read other people's comments about this book I noticed that a lot of people did not like the book but only one person did. and the book grabs my attention. So far it is not that bad.

  1. so, as you must have picked up by now, this book is fiction. The moment you think "dual narrative voice" it must be a fictional work

I don't know what we can do at this point...
